Link Alert

Google added some new links to the top of the Google Reader, and as I clicked on one I was surprised to see it launch in a new window. It then struck me that it is really stupid that the browser gives you absolutely no way to know whether a link will launch in a new window.

I was all ready to rant about how stupid this is and how someone should come up with a fix to this, when low and behold I found out that someone already had.

The Firefox add-on Link Alert changes the cursor to tell you when the link will launch in a new window. But it is actually much cooler than that, as it will also tell you when you are clicking on all sorts of different links, such as (South Africa, the Iraq, everywhere like such as) email links, .pdf links, and RSS feeds. I have been using it for a while now and I really like it.

Worth the install.
